Wall Street protests migrated to Washington this week. They've won the attention and sympathy of President Obama. Media reports bill the "Occupy Wall Street" protests, as they're called, as a left-wing answer to the Tea Party. The movement is made up of the unemployed, students, and labor union activists. Plus: The number of people who applied for unemployment benefits rose slightly last week, a sign the job market remains weak.

October 6, 2007 Steve Jobs dies, Anti-capitalist protesters on Wall Street

Apple founder, Steven Paul Jobs, passed away last night after battling a long illness. He was only 56. Jobs changed the way we use computers, listen to music, the way we read magazines and newspapers, and even the way we produce this newscast. Plus: On Wall Street, anti-capitalist protestors are on the outside. On the inside, a 300 point swing took place in the span of an hour yesterday as traders worried the government of Greece could be closer to defaulting on its debt.

Digging footholds with his black, government-issue boots, Agent Al Nieto, a supervisor in the U.S. Border Patrol's El Centro sector, scales a 10-foot sand embankment. He's working the swing shift, patrolling just south of the All American Canal in Calexico, a tiny border town in Southern California's Imperial Valley. It's 7 p.m., but the desert air is still a baking 103 degrees.
